Transmission - Direct drive pump with a common Piston rod.
This is a fairly typical boiler feed pump. Similar examples have been used across the World and some are no doubt still in commercial use.
Our example was installed in a Warship that is supposed to have been involved in the first World War. It came to Top Forge after being used in Parkgate Steelworks, it being made redundant in 1976 when the last of the Blast Furnaces there was closed down.
