Details

This engine, complete with a boiler, was presented to Top Forge by Rotherham Technical College when steam became so uncommon that in was no longer taught to students.

To allow it to be used for various demonstrations, the engine cam be run as two separate single cylinder engines or as a compound. It also had a condenser but this and the air pump have been removed.

The engine once had a brake system that allow the output to be calculated (bhp). The different types of valve gear on the cylinders is another aid to education.

This engine is currently demonstrated to visitors using Compressed Air
