Details

It seems unbelievable in this day and age that Lawn Mowers were once made that use a steam engine to power them. Whilst they were never as common as powered mowers are today, they are not too uncommon and indeed, a number of complete examples have been preserved around the country.

Steam Powered Mowers were typically employed on Large Estates and Parks.

The Old Lawnmower Club have a website that includes a brief history of the Leyland Steam Mower as well as historic photographs of a mower in use!
