Details

Developed after the introduction of high performance lubricating oil. High speed engines need pressure lubrication in place of the total loss types traditionally used on older engines.

High speed engines come into their own for driving Generators, fans and centrifugal pumps, all of which increase in output as their speed is increased. In fact generators have to operated at high speed to be of a sensible size and efficiency.
