Operated by the Fox family between the 1650s and 1758. Interestingly, there is no connection between this Fox family and Samuel Fox (or Bradwell) who opened the steel works in 1841.
The works made bottles, window glass and lead flint glass, including decorative tableware.
A Pottery was close by, operating between 1778 and 1796. Later the glass works became a Barn for a farm.
The Site has been excavated in recent years. The furnaces have been shown to extend beyond the building and were of a sophisticated design including a form of air pre-heater. There also remains of the annealing furnaces (Lehrs), used to control the cooling of the newly made glassware.
