Taken at an unknown date, we are looking due East, down on the Great Central Railway between Wortley and Thurgoland. In the foreground, a small tender locomotive is climbing the bank on a train from Sheffield to Penistone.
Top Forge is in the Middle distance to the left. Clearly visible are the opening in the front of the Forge building (near No.2 Water Wheel), and the three chimneys. Just behind the Forge is Forge Grange, the house of Thomas Andrews when he was Ironmaster. To the right of this is the Farm, also part of Top Forge and 'The Paddock', the oval field to the right of the farm.
