We can only assume that in this view, the Forge is still working, from the stock of finished axles stored in the open (bottom left). The large pile of 'stone' to the right is the coal pile. Fuel for the furnaces was tipped off the raised back, then barrowed inside as needed. Note the size of some lumps.
This particular print is over exposed, but it has been chosen as the details inside the building are a lot clearer.
We are still trying to identify the material tipped in the foreground.
